The list of accolades for Atlantica continues to grow, especially with year-end lists of top this or that coming out.
The latest praise: Best Free-To-Play Game of 2008, according to Ten Ton Hammer.
The popular site for MMO gamers has been extolling the virtues of Atlantica since closed beta, and when it came time to pick the winner of the top prize of his "2008 Best of F2P Awards," Ten Ton Hammer’s Danny “Ralsu” Gourley chose the game that has sat at number one on his list of Top 10 Free-To-Play Games of the Week for most of 2008’s second half. “Atlantica is easily one of the two best F2P games I have ever tried,” writes Gourley. Read the full list of honorees here.
The Ten Ton Hammer honor follows Atlantica’s nomination for 2008 Best New Game at MMORPG.com, whose editors chose only four titles for the distinction. (The fifth nominee was “None of the Above,” reflecting a general sense of disappointment among MMORPG readers for the releases this year.) Although Atlantica came in third, behind Warhammer: Age of Reckoning and None of the Above, it was still an honor just to be nominated, being the only free-to-play game to join these ranks. Atlantica did best big-budgeted behemoth Age of Conan, however, as well as the Pirates of the Burning Sea.
Plus, Atlantica is in the mix for several of onRPG’s year-end Member's Choice Awards. We hope Atlantica-playing members of onRPG will show their support at the site by voting for the game (and then win one of the prizes onRPG is giving out) in the categories of Top Free MMO, Best Gameplay, and Best Innovation..
