Total Newbie Posts: 5 ![]() | I fail to grasp why everything in the UI has to flash upon a change. However, I have had no real problems with this untill the most recent patch. Flashing pieces of the UI are distracting, and I can understand the reason behind making it flash. Yet with the recent addition of making the challenge button flash I find myself losing my mind. It starts flashing every 5 seconds, and the only way to make it stop flashing is to open and close the challenge window. Now here is my problem with it. As previously mentioned it starts flashing every 5 seconds, and unlike the other buttons that flash, it is the only one that cannot be turned off while in battle. Every time I find myself in a long boss battle, I am forced to sit there watching that button blink with nothing that can be done about it. It's distracting, it's annoying, and as I said it's making me lose my mind. I can understand making it blink to try and improve the ammount the challenge system gets used, however, 99% of the time it's not even a battle I can join. I have several ideas for improvement on this issue. 1) make it so it only flashes when the new challenge issued is actually one you can accept, and not every single challenge issued. 2) give an option in the options screen to disable various or all flashing buttons. 3) put it back the way it was Any of the above ideas would satisfy my quam with the issue, as well as I'm sure just about anyone else who feels the same. I invite people to voice their opinions in support or oposition to these ideas, as well as suggest some of their own here in this thread. Also, while I am posting this here, I have 1 problem with pop-up windows. I have no problem with the idea of pop up windows, but I hate that every time a window pops up it is automatically the active window which can interupt a great many things from moving things in your inventory to messing up a battle. My suggestion here is simply if you must have pop ups, can it be worked so they dont overwrite the current window the user is working in. Also some options to disable various if not all pop ups would be nice. These are just my views and opinions, take them for what you will, but I do challenge other players to support these should they agree. Edited by VooDoo83 11/17/2009 5:51 AM

Window this, window that, flashes, popups and prompts kinda come in the package. And yea sometimes it annoys... but what I realy like would be a STFU button to block all Item Mall messages and crafts. That is annoying!

And yea sometimes it annoys... but what I realy like would be a STFU button to block all Item Mall messages and crafts. That is annoying! STFU button isn't quite as elegant as I was going for in my original post, but yeah, that's essentially it. As for it being a simple window based UI I agree, however, most windows applications that blink have an option to turn off the blinking, or windows that pop up over other windows have an option to keep it behind the active window. This is the kind of UI improvement I would like to see. I go thorugh the Da Vinci's Workshop forum and see tons of great ideas for things to be added to the game, but very little about improving what's already there. The UI could probably use the most improvement. Not so long ago the website had a survey question about what the players would like to see improved or added to the game, and while UI improvement was an option on the survey question, it only placed I think (dont quote me on this because I honestly dont remember for sure) 4th out of 6 on the overall vote. The highest voted answers were additions to the game. Everyone seems focused on what is coming next, which I can understand, but it means things like this seem to get very little attention. I am puzzled about why more people don't speak up about improving the current UI, because I don't know anyone in the game that doesnt complain about it. My own guild/nation leader KJ'd me in annoyance (and as a joke) for popping up item mall items too many times. If you can tell by my number of postings, I am not a forum troll by any means. In fact if this matter was not such an issue to me I probably never would have signed up. Again these are my views and opinions, and again I welcome other people views and opinions on the matter. The best way to have something done is to make your voices known, and post here in support.

Total Newbie Posts: 5 ![]() | Mr_Tee - 11/18/2009 8:51 AM -1 for me to everything. I like the "flashing". It is notification for me, that something changed. I won't argue the notification point because that is clearly what the flashing was intended to do. My point is that do you really need to be notified any time anything changes? When I am doing wanted boards, and in the middle of fighting a boss, the last thing I need to be notified of is some lvl 30 player creating a challenge that i couldnt except anyways. Not that I would even know it's a lvl 30 the made the challenge because the entire time I am fighting the boss, I cant do anything with the flashing button on my screen because you cannot open the challenge window while fighting. Mr_Tree you have clearly missed the point of the thread. It isn't to get rid of the flashing buttons altogether. I will accept that while I personally find it strange, there are going to be players like yourself who will don't mind or welcome the flashing. The point is to give players like me who do not like it, and do not feel the need to be notified of every single thing in the game that ever happens, or ever changes the option to turn off the flashing.
